Volunteers – without YOU this station simply would not be here!
It’s a fact and we rely on our loyal volunteers to run the show for us. Not just on air but we have a team of great people who look after the reception duties 5 days a week, administration staff who keep the mountain of paperwork up to date, make sure we respond to enquiries, pay the bills and look after the presenters with everything from cups of tea and coffee to handling the busy phone lines.
Why do they do it? They simply love our radio station
They enjoy giving back to the community, engaging with our many listeners and for some of our long term team, it’s about the friendships formed over the years. There’s just one small problem – we don’t have enough people! Circumstances change, people move away or for various reasons just can’t commit any more so we are always on the lookout for local people who want to help us continue entertaining and informing the Logan City community.
In the first instance, you can call 3808 8101 and ask to speak to the station manager and tell us a little about yourself.
You might even have a resume from your working days or you may be working part time and looking to add some voluntary work to your week. Young people are actively encouraged to get in touch too as a voluntary role can go a long way into helping you find your ideal job. Employers have a very positive view when they read that you’ve offered your service as a volunteer.
So what skills do you need to join our friendly team at 101FM?
A positive, can do attitude goes a long way and a willingness to be part of a well run team.
If you are computer literate that’s a plus but even if not, we can always find something for you. Maybe you have a trade or skills that would come in handy if we need some simple maintenance on our premises or you might be able to assist with reception duties. We are always in the market for new voices on 101FM and you don’t need any experience as we’ll provide the training. If it’s been a lifelong dream to ‘be on the radio’ now is your chance.
Make no mistake, you won’t be going on air until you are ready and not everyone makes the grade but for those that do, there’s nothing better than presenting your own show on Logan’s favourite radio station!
Community Radio will be here for a lot longer than some commercial radio stations so it makes sense to keep those skills alive.
